One-off Yorkshire roast greeting cards

These terms apply to purchases from Yorkshire Roast Card Co., a brand of Guy-Designs, a trading name of Guy Whitwell, a sole trader in England ("we", "us"). Address: Stockhill House, Church Balk, Dunnington, York YO19 5LH. Email: support@yorkshireroast.co.uk.

Ordering

Our cards are currently sold through Etsy. When you buy through Etsy, your contract is with us, and Etsy's Terms of Use, House Rules and Purchase Protection also apply. Payment is processed by Etsy.

Products

Colours may vary slightly from how they look on screen. Personalised text is printed exactly as you supply it, so please check spelling before you order.

Personalised content

You confirm you have the right to use any photos, names or text you provide through Etsy, and that they're not unlawful. We may decline any request we consider offensive, defamatory, discriminatory or harmful.

Custom Roast cards (coming soon)

Custom Roast cards are not yet available. When they launch, they will be ordered only through our Etsy listing, where you provide your details and photos using Etsy's personalisation options. Each card is made to your specification; the listing will set out the timescale and any proof or amendment options. Because Custom Roasts are personalised, they are exempt from the 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, but if a card is faulty, damaged or not as described you can still get a reprint or refund, and your statutory rights are unaffected. You promise that you have permission from everyone pictured or described, and that you only upload photos of children if you are their parent or guardian. We keep the finished illustration, and delete your original photos within 7 days of the final card layout being confirmed and sent to print. Our roasts are light-hearted. We may decline or edit requests we consider offensive, hurtful, discriminatory, defamatory or likely to cause real distress, and in that case we'll refund any payment for work we haven't started.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

We follow UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. The data controller is Guy Whitwell, trading as Guy-Designs, Stockhill House, Church Balk, Dunnington, York YO19 5LH, support@yorkshireroast.co.uk.

What we collect

This website does not collect personal data, use forms or run analytics. If you email us, we use your email address and message to reply. For orders: your name, delivery address, order details and any personalisation you provide.

Who processes it

Etsy handles orders and payments (see Etsy's Privacy Policy). Prodigi, our print and fulfilment partner, receives your name, delivery address and personalisation so it can print and post your order. Our email providers (including Google) store our correspondence. Some providers may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.

Lawful basis & retention

We process order data to fulfil our contract with you, and keep records as long as needed for tax and accounting (normally 6 years). Custom Roast photos are handled only as set out below.

Custom Roast photos and details (coming soon)

How you provide them: when Custom Roasts launch, you'll provide photos and details only through Etsy's personalisation options on our Custom Roast listing. Etsy is also a controller of that data under its own Privacy Policy. Nothing is uploaded to or stored on this website.

What we use: the photos of the people (and pets) to be illustrated, and the details you share, such as names, the occasion, quirks, habits, catchphrases and hobbies. Why: only to create, print and deliver your personalised card.

How: we create the illustration using third-party image-generation services, currently xAI (Grok) and tools from Meta Platforms. Your photos and descriptions are uploaded to these services for that purpose. These providers have their own privacy terms, and they may process data outside the UK.

What we keep: we keep the finished illustration, which we own. We delete your original photos from our computer within 7 days of the final card layout being confirmed and sent to print. We keep order records (via Etsy) as long as needed for tax and accounting.

Lawful basis: performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interests in running and accounting for the business. Permission: only upload photos of people who have agreed to be included, and don't upload photos of children unless you are their parent or guardian. No other use: we will never use your card or illustration in marketing or our portfolio without your separate written consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to how we use it, or ask for a copy to take elsewhere, by emailing support@yorkshireroast.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

This website itself sets no cookies and uses no tracking or analytics. Our fonts load from Google Fonts, which can see your IP address to deliver them (Google states it doesn't set cookies for this). Etsy's site uses its own cookies when you visit it; see Etsy's Cookie Policy. If we ever add analytics or cookies, we'll update this notice and ask for your consent where the law requires.

Every card is personalised or made to order, so the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply to personalised items. We can't accept returns for change of mind on personalised items.

Faulty, damaged or wrong? If your card arrives damaged, misprinted or not as described, email us at support@yorkshireroast.co.uk within 14 days of delivery with your order number and a photo, and we'll reprint it or refund you. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected.

For orders placed on Etsy, Etsy's policies (including the Etsy Purchase Protection programme) also apply, and refunds are issued through Etsy.

Cards are printed and dispatched by our print partner, Prodigi. Production normally takes 2–3 working days, and UK delivery a further 2–3 working days. International delivery times vary. Delivery costs and estimates are shown on each Etsy listing at checkout. For Christmas, please order by 14 December for UK delivery before 25 December. If your order hasn't arrived within the estimated time, contact us and we'll chase it.

Please don't copy, reproduce or sell them without written permission. Buying a card gives you the card, not the rights to the design. Jungle Juice is © Guy-Designs. Our roast cards are light-hearted, affectionate humour in the Yorkshire tradition of insulting the people you love most. They aren't intended to cause genuine offence, harm or distress. Please choose a card that suits your recipient's sense of humour. We won't produce custom content that is hateful, discriminatory, harassing or defamatory, and we may refuse any request at our discretion.
